Creativity takes courage
Two years ago, I was walking around Lisbon and discovered this phrase on a wall:
“Have a mission, plan ahead, question everything, assume nothing. Roll up your sleeves, study the past, take risks, dream higher, welcome change, han have an amazing haircut, laugh, be curious.
Payepay attention to details, makemistaeksmistakes, think sideways, do things with passion, don’t forget to play, take it to the edge. Breathe.Creativity takes courage”
I subscribe to every word in this quote because the most difficult thing in life is accepting that you will fail hundreds of times if you want to make a living from a creative craft.
Nobody tells you the path you have to follow, and that is precisely where the doubts begin. Not knowing if the step you’re taking will lead you forward or backward can paralyze you. But that’s where you have to show courage.
Because the truth reveals itself as you move forward. And it is in that process where you will discover what you want and what you don’t. There is no other way.
Where most would stand still, there is always one who gropes forward and keeps moving. Because they know that life is not safe, no matter how many attempts we make to make it so. Today you are here, and tomorrow you may not be.
Think less and trust intuition more, even if it is complicated (it really is). Intuition is how our ancestors survived, and it is how we function best. The first idea was clear, even if you didn’t want to see it, and it’s when you think too much that it gets clouded.
Today's recommendations
- Clarity hacks. Last week I discovered this blog and I found it really interesting. In my last edition I talk about the importance of writing. Here are some good tips for clarity in writing.
- What Listening Does. I think one reason for the increase in people going to therapy is the loneliness epidemic caused by our individualistic society and the lack of attention and listening skills in many individuals. Listening is a really valuable skill nowadays.
- How to make real things. “Never walk into a room without knowing why you are there. “I need to write a newsletter” isn’t knowing why you are there, “I know exactly what to write” is. Problems are rarely solved and executed in the same room.”
My first popup newsletter is ready
This week, I had time to work on two projects I’ve been focusing on lately.
My first popup newsletter, Silencezzz, is ready, and you can join now if you’d like. I’ll be sending one email a day throughout October, each with a short video I’ve recorded over the years.
The idea behind this project is to highlight the importance of finding silence in our daily lives. Since total silence is impossible, the closest we can get is being in nature, which is vital for our health. Nature reduces stress by lowering cortisol levels, improves mood by promoting relaxation, reduces inflammation through sun exposure and physical rest, and more.
Alongside the newsletter, I’ve been working on a small radio site with nature sounds for those days when nature feels too far away. I’ve made good progress, so I’ll share the link here soon.
